How Do I Organize My Closet? Let Me Show You How

Keeping the closet organized has long been a daunting task, and many aren’t even sure where to begin. However, becoming and staying organized can be surprisingly simple. Often, it is easiest to break the task down into smaller, more manageable short term goals rather than looking at the whole picture. This can make organizing the closet seem less intimidating and maybe even fun. But wait…If I wanna organize my closet where the hell do I begin?

First, you should identify what type of closet organization suits your personality best. Start by asking yourself a few questions. Do you prefer your things visible and easily accessible? Or would you rather your clothes and accessories be hidden away and neatly stored? Are you more apt to hang your clothes or fold them? And finally, consider the current layout of your closet.

Think about whether or not it’s working for you and your organizational style. For instance, if you like to fold your clothes but have a closet organizer that contains mostly bars for hanging items, this would be the time to change it.

Now that you have a basic idea of how you would like your closet to function, it’s time to get planning. If you need to re-arrange your closet design, head to your local department store or hardware store for supplies. Some easy and functional additions for any closet are hanging shoe closet organizers, metal baskets for folded items, or self assembled shelving units. While you’re buying these new items, don’t forget to consider the amount and type of items you will need to be storing.

Be sure to buy closet organizers that compliment your new style of staying neat. If you are better at folding, get closet shelves or baskets. If you prefer to hang things, consider buying another hanging closet rod to add more space. Another great idea I found when organizing my closet is space saving vacuum bags, where you can store bulky and out of season items neatly and out of the way. Storage cubes are another good idea for this as well.

Once your new closet is together, it’s time to organize your closet. In small sections, pull existing items from your closet and group them together. Pants, blouses, shoes, and so on. Don’t forget, while you go through your clothes and accessories you should remove items you no longer use or wear, and either donate or dispose of them.

Having extra unused items in your closet makes it harder to keep everything neat after your hard work. Now you can put them away again in their new place, either hanging or folded as you decided earlier. If you are serious about becoming organized, consider putting items away by color or use to make getting ready in the morning even faster. Closet organizers

Now that you have a neat and organized closet, create a mental plan to maintain it. Make a little more time for your laundry routine to make sure you put your clothes back in their places. When you buy new clothes, be sure to put them away correctly the first time, and even consider removing an old piece of clothing to make room for the new one. This way, your closet can always be neat and never overflowing. I know when I organize my closets this is the approach I always take – Good luck!
